FAQ’s
FAQ: Why are Tuesdays for set day attendees only?
We have a high number of early years attendees on a Tuesday so in order to maintain staff to child ratios and to ensure we are offering the best level of care to all attendees, we can not offer ad hoc attendance on this day.
FAQ: Why is there not a reduced rate for those who attend for half a session?
DAC staff start work before an actual session begins as there are administrative tasks, parents messages and queries to respond too, activity planning etc. A parent may need child care for an hour, however staff will always be paid a minimum of fours, therefore it is not financially viable for the club to offer reduced rates as operating costs remain the same regardless of the duration a child attends a session.
FAQ: Why is there a higher set day rate for nursery attendees?
In order to care for children aged three and four, staff at each session are required to have a L3 Early Years Educator qualification, which has meant an increase in qualified or training staff and employer support with fees for further learning for existing staff.
FAQ: When does the club operate?
We are open Monday to Friday from 3:15pm – 6pm, term time only. We operate every full school day. We do not operate on half days.
FAQ: Can children attend the club occasionally?
Yes children can attend on an ad hoc basis. You can book your child in by emailing: TheTeam@DreamworksAfterschoolClub.co.uk
You should also inform your child’s teacher if they are coming to DAC.
FAQ: Do you do homework at Club? / Can the children do homework at Club?
We have a homework period from 4:30pm until 5pm Monday to Thursdays. During this time we supervise reading with reception and year one boys and we assist the older boys with their work when required. This period is a quiet study period. Boys who do not adhere to the quiet study policy at this time will not be permitted to take part in outdoor activities once the homework period has finished. In other words, no study, no football.
The DAC team are frequently met with the following statement from some of our older attendees; “we don’t have any homework!”
We have a range of books available for all abilities at each session, so the boys will never be left idle during this period if they genuinely do not have any homework tasks that can be completed at session.
FAQ: Where does the food served at Snack Time come from?
The snack menu is freshly prepared daily on site. All fruit, vegetables and ingredients are purchased on Mondays and again on Wednesdays to ensure the freshest food is served throughout the week. We specifically purchase DAC food from Sainsbury’s so that in the event of a food related illness, development of an allergy or a reaction to the food of any kind, we are able to trace exactly where the food consumed has come from. Snack time is from 4pm – 4:30pm. No food or drink is available during the study period, except for children who join the session late. The majority of the food is suitable for vegetarians.
FAQ: Do you provide snacks for children with allergies?
Yes, we provide snacks to meet the dietary requirements of all children who attend on set days. If any child has an allergy there will always be suitable options or alternatives for them when they attend.
FAQ: Is there anything that my child needs to bring to the club?
The only thing your child will need to bring to the club is trainers so they can play outside on the school courts after the homework period if they choose. If your child hasn’t got any homework to complete, there is a large selection of books available to choose from and we also provide maths worksheets for all abilities.
FAQ: What is the best way to contact DAC?
Parents can contact the club via email or mobile. The DAC mobile is on from 2.30pm to 6pm Monday to Friday, term time and the team will aim to respond to all messages and emails during this period. The DAC mobile number is: 07596849761. The DAC team email address is: TheTeam@DreamworksAfterschoolClub.co.uk.
FAQ: Can my child bring their own snack from home?
Food from outside of DAC can not be consumed during club. Snacks will be provided by DAC. Children must keep any food items in their bag.
FAQ: Can my child bring their own toys to play with?
Children should not bring toys from home to club. The children have access to different toys, games and activities daily to ensure they have a variety of options to choose from. We discourage bringing in toys from home to prevent accidental damage or loss whilst at the club.
