Dear Parents,
Please take a few moments to read over some of the exciting things happening at DAC, this is a slightly extended version so make yourself a cup of tea, put your feet up and give yourselves a little ‘DAC’ time to catch up on what is going on at the club and what is due to change.

New Gaming Equipment!
Drum roll please! After the Easter half term there will be an Xbox One available at the club which will make an appearance once a week. The club’s first game will be Forza Horizon 3. This is a car racing video game suitable for all ages and we will gradually increase the options of games available so the children have a choice to pick from. No doubt we are bracing ourselves for requests from the boys for specific games…

The Ninjago Lego Challenge
We have added a LEGO Ninjago set to our existing LEGO collection. Most of the children are familiar with the theme and characters as the LEGO films are a popular choice during FCF (Film Club Friday). There will be a competition to see which team can complete the set in the fastest time.

Homework Time
Any child who does not read or study during the homework period will not be permitted to play outside for that session. All children are required to read a book of their choice or complete homework between 4.30-5.00pm, Monday to Thursday.
Children in reception and year one can return to activities once they have finished reading. However children in year two and above are expected to do homework or read throughout the 30 minute homework period.

|
Story Time
As mentioned in the previous newsletter, we have been trialling story time with our early years and the boys really seem to enjoy it so we will do this once or twice each week.

|
Outside Wear
All children who want to go outside must have the correct footwear and during cold periods must have appropriate accessories (gloves, scarves and hats) in their bags for when they attend DAC. Although this has improved, we have noticed that some children are still requesting to collect their trainers from their classroom during the session which we can no longer permit due to staff / child ratios and school rules.

Italian Day
On Wednesday 21st March we will be having an Italian day at the club. The boys will have Italian food options such as pasta and other treats courtesy of our favourite Italian Cheyenne, who will be using special ingredients imported from Italy, (the usual snack buffet will be available also). The boys can also bring in anything Italian if they wish. Non vediamo l’ora di farvi vedere in po del l’italia (we can’t wait to show you a bit of Italy!).

The great DAC Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Thursday 22nd March! May the best Egg hunter win!

Adhoc Sessions
Due to the extra admin required to effectively manage adhoc attendance, with effect from the 1st of May, adhoc attendance will be charged at £15 per session. Once a session space is requested it will be charged for. Refunds will not be given for non-attendance. The cost for set days sessions will remain the same. Parents who use the club on an ad hoc basis must remember to give sufficient notice so staff can prepare and plan appropriately for each session. This is especially important for those whose children have special dietary requirements. Also can parents please remember to use the DAC team email and / or mobile number when requesting a session space.
Invoices
Please ensure you give the required notice if you wish to change set days. Invoices are sent out at the start of each month so if you wish to change set days please inform us by the end of each month. Once invoices have been issued, they will not be amended.

Bullying
DAC is a No Bullying Zone and we take bullying very seriously. We keep records of all incidents that we see or that are reported to us, so any boys who seem to be repeatedly involved in or accused of bullying will be asked to leave DAC.

In The Gym
On the days we are located in the gym, you may need to call the DAC phone in order to gain entry onto the school premises as the buzzer may not be manned. We will be notifying parents whenever we are in the gym from now on. Please call the DAC mobile if ever you can not gain access: 07596849761.
